Exploration History

1932: The occurrence was staked by D.M. Morin. 1933: A total of 116 assessment days were credited to the claim for unspecified work. 1934: Oklend Gold Mines Ltd. was incorporated to undertake development of the claim. The claim was transferred to Oklend Gold Mines Ltd. and surveyed. Geological and dip needle surveys were conducted. 1935-36: A 59 hole, 10,956.7 m diamond drill program was completed. Fourteen holes explored two erratic vein zones on claim TB10699. 1937: An application was submitted to patent the claim, but approval was withheld as the claim was too large. 1938: Six holes totalling 1,265.2 m were drilled elsewhere on the claim block. 1939: A portion of TB10669 was staked as TB10669A by Watkin Samuel, who transferred the claim to Oklend Gold Mines Ltd. Both claims were patented. 1946-47: A joint exploration program was carried out with Hard Rock Gold Mines Ltd., which involved drilling along the common north-south boundary. 1951: A diamond drilling program was carried out by Oklend Gold Mines Ltd. and Little Longlac Gold Mines Ltd. along their mutual boundary. 1966: The property was sold to Little Longlac Gold Mines Limited. 1986: Claim held by Little Longlac Gold Mines Limited. No assessment reports were found on file as the land is patented.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The area is underlain by Precambrian metavolcanics and metasediments which have been intruded by bodies of hornblende diorite, diorite porphyry, albite porphyry and quartz diabase. The arkose horizon within which the quartz ores of the Little Long lac Mine occur forms a continuous band up to 304.8 m thick, and has been traced to diamond drill intersections south of the Main Narrows. Fourteen holes were drilled on claim TB10699 to test the ground along strike of the arkose horizon easterly from the Little Longlac Mine. Several erratic quartz-carbonate stringer zones in arkose and greywacke were intersected.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Seven mineralized sections were intersected, returning values from 0.10 to 0.17 oz/ton Au over widths of 0.2 m to 1.5 m. Two 0.2 m sections assayed 0.32oz/ton Au (in quartz veinlets mineralized with gn and cp) and 0.44 oz/ton Au (in veinlets mineralized with py). None of the veins could be traced in closely spaced holes. Intersections on other parts of the 55 claim block returned gold values up to 0.25 oz/ton Au over 0.8 m and 0.39 oz/ton Au over 0.4 m.
