Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Leduc Township is partially composed of Metasediments, which form three east-trending belts separated by mafic metavolcanics. The southern belt, in which the property is situated, consists of interbedded argyllite, siltstone and greywacke sandstone. Middle to Late Precambrian diabase dykes cut all rocks. Pleistocene sand and gravel deposits cover much of the bedrock. Drilling performed by Kenogamisis Gold Mines Ltd, intersected fine-grained metasediments containing quartz stringers and minor amounts of pyrite, pyrrhotite, and a trace of chalcopyrite. For the most part, only trace amounts of gold were encountered. Reference is made to minor amounts of dark, metallic mineralization along slips in core from drill hole No. 1 that has been tentatively classed as a sulphur antimonide. Mention is also made in the drill logs of the presence of graphitic zones. Drilling performed by Dome Exploration Ltd. intersected a similar lithology, as well as a carbonaceous, sulphide-bearing metasediment noted as the probable cause of the EM anomaly. Arsenopyrite is also recognized.
