Lithology Comments

Oct 16, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - At the Blacksmith zone and the Gwyn Southwest showing, the iron formation can be traced along strike (075° to 080°) for 200 to 250 m. It dips steeply to the north at 85° and varies in width from 0.5 to 3 m. In places, the iron formation is highly deformed and brecciated, resulting in chaotic disruption of the chert bands. Gossanous, sulphidized iron formation is dominated by pyrite and arsenopyrite (with lesser amounts of chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite) and often crosscut by quartz and quartz-carbonate veins. Conformable, boudinaged quartz veining was also noted. Veins are generally discontinuous and vary from 7 to 40 cm wide. Sulphide content in the iron formation may range from 40 to 100%, but overall averages 5 to 10%. Units of semi-conformable quartz feldspar porphyry, in places mineralized with 1% to 3% disseminated pyrite, are exposed at the No. 4 East Extension (441721E 5498234N) and Blacksmith zone (Smyk et al., 2009).

Mineralization Comments

Oct 16, 2019 (B Nelson) - Sample 83-MRL-3 returned a value of 0.17 oz/ton Au from a massive, rusty, grey-white vitreous quartz vein containing 1% euhedral pyrite (Mason and White, 1986).

Oct 16, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Blacksmith Zone is a magnetite-rich BIF that extends for at least 1.2 km. The upper iron formation zone contains felsic tuff, chert graphite, pyrite, pyrrhotite and local magnetite on the north side and hosts the Blacksmith vein in interbedded magnetite arid chert on the south side. The Blacksmith vein in the northern banded iron formation has been tested by surface trenching and diamond drilling along a 130 m (400 foot) section. Trench B-2 which assayed 0.147 oz Au per ton across 1.8 feet was the only economic grade value encountered. Surface grab samples contained anomalous gold values up to 0.020 oz Au per ton for at least 100 m (300 feet) east of the main showing (Assessment report 42E12NW0010). Assay results from the drilling by Nulac Gold Mines Ltd. in 1946 returned a weighted average of their drill intersections of 0.256 ounce gold per ton across a true width of 5.6 feet (1.7 m) (Carter, 1987). OGS Sample 83-MRL-3 returned 0.17 oz/t Au (5.3 g/t Au) from a massive grey-white vitreous quartz vein with 1% euhedral pyrite-sheared chloritic fractures (Mason and White, 1986). The Orion-Blacksmith-Discovery Point-Ralph Lake West Extension showings run along trend, about 500 m from end to end. The Orion Showing (Zone 16, 442052 m E, 5497875 m N) assayed up to 18.376 ppm Au. The Blacksmith Showing (Zone 16 441985 m E, 5497830 m N) assayed up to 11.999 ppm Au. The Ralph Lake West Extension (Zone 16 441600 m E, 5497785 m N) assayed up to 5.008 ppm Au (Assessment report 20000005755). The Ralph Lake showing (Zone 16 441705 m E, 5497847 m N) assayed up to 11.195 ppm Au (Assessment report 20000004436). The No. 8 showing (Zone 441980 m E, 5497947 m N), about 100 m north of the Blacksmith showing, returned up to 5.14 ppm Au (Assessment report 20000002603).
