Geology Comments

Oct 17, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Pettit Property is underlain by rocks belonging to the Southern Metasedimentary Sub-belt which has been the host for over 94 percent of the gold production in the camp. It straddles a 4.2 mile strike length of the Watson Lake Fault, a major regional tectonized boundary between metavolcanics to the north and metasediments to the south. A regionally extensive unit of magnetite-chert-hematite iron formation occurs in close proximity to the fault. The fault and the iron formation are spatially associated with gold deposits (including the Leitch Mine, a former major producer) along strike to the west and east of the property (Assessment report 42E12NE0001).

Mineralization Comments

Oct 17, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - A narrow gold-bearing quartz-carbonate vein hosted in sheared pyritic pillowed basalt is exposed in two trenches to the north of Watson Lake between L2E and L4E near the west end of the lake. In Trench 88-A, a 10 cm wide vein contains up to 15% sphalerite, 5% galena, 2% chalcopyrite and minor pyrite. Grab sample assays from the vein range up to 3.9 ounces gold per ton, with silver, lead and zinc contents up to 0.77 ounces per ton, 4.75% and 14.86%, respectively. Channel samples across the vein assayed only up to 1807 ppb gold, indicating that mineralization is sporadic. Samples from the wallrock contained less than 100 ppb gold. The northern extension of the gold-bearing quartz-carbonate vein is exposed in Trench 88-B. A grab sample from the vein (average width: 6 cm) assayed 0.2 ounces of gold per ton but a high value of 509 ppb was obtained from subsequent sampling. The vein contains 1-2% galena, 20-25% sphalerite and trace chalcopyrite (Assessment report 42E12NE0001). DDH 94-2 returned assays of up to 0.339 ppm Au and 924 ppm Zn (Assessment report 42E12NW0037).
