Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The occurrence is in an area of felsic metavolcanics along strike with those on the Jupiter Minerals and Carling Copper MInes Corporation properties. Tuff-breccia, pyroclastic breccia and feldspar porphyry underlie the occurrence. Bartley and Greer (1953) indicate the presence of two surface showings,a narrow quartrz vein erratically mineralized with gold, and a parallel occurrence containing lead, zinc and copper. The quartz vein strikes north 30 degrees E and dips at 70 to 80 degrees to the northwest. It has been emplaced along a zone of moderate shearing. The drill core indicates that the shearing is confined to a rhyolitic rock 3 m to 7.6 m in width, which contains considerable sericite and talc. Lavas of intermediate composition are on each side. The rhyolite may represent a dyke. The other showing appears to be a zone of fracturing and silicification about 53 m southeast of the quartz vein. The quartz vein is erratically mineralized. Felsic metavolcanics contain only disseminated pyrite in drill core samples.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Specimens taken from the fractured and silicified zone show that heavy sphalerite and chalcopyrite mineralization occurs at certain places. The drill intersections show relatively small quantities of these metals and only across narrow widths. The quartz vein is erratically mineralized and carried gold, silver and sphalerite. No copper values were reported. Bartley and Greer (1953) indicate that DDH #1 showed assays of 87.82 oz/ton Au between 32.3 and 33.2 m, and 8.20 oz/ton Au between 33.2 and 33.9 m. DDH #9 gave 2.00 oz/ton Au between 33.7 and 33.9 m. Visible gold was noted in these samples. None of the other drill holes returned any commercial assays in gold.
