Point Location Description: Trenches and diamond-drill holes.
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: The property is located in southwestern Elmhirst Township, straddling the Namewaminikan (Sturgeon) River. The claims can be reached by travelling north from Nezah (10.1 km west of Jellico) on secondary highway 801 for 19 km to the Namewaminikan (Sturgeon) River, then easterly on a lumber road for approximately 1.6 km.
1934-57: First recorded staking of the claim on which the River Showing was later discovered. The claim was subsequently restaked by four prospectors, and though work was performed in each case, locations of significant showings were not noted. 1959: River Showing (copper) was discovered. 1960: EM survey conducted on behalf of W.C. Martin. 1961: 8 diamond-drill holes (670.6 m) tested a conductive zone coinciding with the River Showing. 1966: Norlex drilled 7 holes. 1967: Canadian Javelin drilled 12 holes. Kerr Addison conducted an EM survey and dropped the option. 1971: Carling Copper Mines performed geophysical surveys (including IP, VLF-EM), linecutting and trenching. A diamond-drill program was initiated to test geophysical conductors and previously known mineralized zones. 1972: Trenching, assaying and diamond-drilling performed by Carling. 1973: Carling's drill program concluded after a three year total of 2703 m in 27 holes. 1977: claims cancelled. 1980: E. Maruska cut a grid and conducted EM and mag surveys. 1982-83: Kengate Resources Ltd. optioned the claims. Five zones of gold mineralization delineated. Did detailed mapping and trenching of the zones. A drill program was initiated. The May, 1983 conclusion of the project saw a total of 64 holes drilled. 1985: Property held by E. Maruska (A. Mitto).

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The claims are underlain for the most part by intermediate to felsic metavolcanics. In the claims immediately north of the Namewaminikan R. silicified metavolcanics occur intermixed with hybridized granodiorite. The metavolcanics on the property strike northeastward and dip moderately to steeply to the northwest. Numerous shear zones, which generally parallel the foliation, occur on the property in both metavolcanic and intrusive rocks. The major structural direction of the property is about 35 degrees. A system of fractures with quartz veins up to several feet wide occur in the volcanic rocks extending from the river, northward. Two wide zones of light to heavy disseminated pyrite occur--one somewhat along the river and a second general zone crossing the larger part of claim TB511441. Zn and cu mineralized zones occur within the main pyrite zones. Au and ag often occur with the zn-cu mineralization and at one location, spectacular free gold occurs in a brecciated zone in quartz-diorite. The cu-zn mineralization is found predominantly in altered rhyolitic to dacitic volcanic rocks and related tuffs and agglomerates. Au and ag often occur with zinc mineralization and in some places is associated with cp. The main cu occurrence is the River Showing located in the bed of the Sturgeon River which may be observed only at low water. Heavy streaks and masses of cp with minor occasional py occurs in sheared chloritized dacite volcanics. The sp mineralization in this area appears to occur on the hanging wall side of the py zone, with cp occurring more in the central part. It appears the cp mineralization occurs in a shear zone which transgresses the main shear zones which transgresses the main shear zone at a shallow angle.

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The metavolcanics on the Carling Copper property are mostly dacite, rhyolite and andesite flows intercalated with agglomerate and tuff-breccia units which are abundant in the northern part of the property.

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Norlex Mines Ltd, in hole 66-4, intersected values of 0.17% Cu, 16.17% Zn, and 0.02 oz/ton Au over 12 feet. Hole 66-5 intersected values of 0.15% Cu, 16.10% Zn, 0.08 oz/ton Ag, and 0.18 oz/ton Au. (From the River Showing). The following are results of grab samples taken in the 5 Zone area in 1982: Sample 82-MAM-10 yielded o.19 oz/ton Au, 1.43 oz/ton Ag, 9320 ppm Cu, 1.38% Pb, and 17.1% Zn. Sample 82-MAM-11 yielded 0.17 oz/ton Au, 3.93 oz/ton Ag, 1730 ppm Cu, 810 ppm Pb, and 7.15% Zn.
Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Silicification and chloritization has affected the more mafic flows, particularly in zones of shearing. Near contacts with plutonic rocks, the metavolcanics have been recrystallized, taking on the appearance of porphyritic diorite which grades into the hybridized granodiorite of the intrusions.
