Point Location Description: Historical trench
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: The claims are located in central Kirby Township on the north shore of Kirby Lake. The property is accessible by travelling east from Jellicoe on Trans-Canada Highway 11 for about 17.5 km and north and west on Wildgoose Beach Road for approximately 10 km. A small trail can be followed north and west from the end of Wildgoose Beach Road to Kirby Lake, a distance of about 5 km. The lake must then be crossed by boat.
1952: The property was staked. 1953: Transferred to Pic Nickel Mines Ltd. 1954: Claim cancelled and restaked. 1955-58: A total of 280 days assessment credit was accumulated. Work included stripping and trenching. 1961: Claim optioned to Kateri Mining Co. Ltd., which had airborne EM and ground mag surveys conducted. 1962-69: Claim cancelled and restaked 6 times. 1970: Two holes (98.2 m total) were drilled by Canadian Nickel Co. Ltd. 1971-1981: Claims cancelled and restaked twice. 1982: Manual and mechanical work performed on the claims by Joseph Oster. 1986: Ground covering the occurrence was open for staking.

Geological Age: Archean
Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - The typical bedrock of this area consists of mafic to intermediate metavolcanics (flows, tuffs, and agglomerates) interbedded with metasediments (generally greywacke, conglomerate and ironstone). Intrusions of massive to gneissic granite and granodiorite, as well as lesser amounts of diorite, felsic porphyries, and olivine and quartz diabase dykes are confined mainly to the northern part of Kirby, Fulford, and McQuesten Townships. In the vicinity of Kirby Lake the metavolcanic rocks occur in the form of a coarse amphibolite. They are distinguished from the diorites by the absence of intrusive contacts, and by their less massive nature. A shear zone striking 260 degrees and dipping 58 degrees south occurs in mafic metavolcanics. The zone is up to 1.5 m wide, with a 0.48 m portion mineralized with sphalerite and minor galena. The shear zone occurs as a quartz-sericite-garnet-biotite schist. A sulphide iron formation averaging 0.3 m wide is situated comfortably at the north contact. All units are folded about a 105 degree axial plane.

Dec 07, 2005 (B Nelson) - Chip samples across two 0.3 m sections gave assays of 4.87 and 3.16 oz/ton Ag and 0.01 oz/ton Au and trace gold respectively. The 3.16 oz/ton Ag sample was taken in a quartz vein with 2-3% sphalerite. The 4.87 oz/ton Ag sample came from a quartz sericite schist and silicified shear with less than 2% sphalerite.
