Location Method: Based on Assessment

Access Description: The site is accessible by driving south from Kapuskasing via the Swanson Road. Drive south for approximately 48 km and then travel west along forestry access roads for another 2.5 km.

Exploration History

1946-47: Bonnie Prince Syndicate - stripping, trenching, ground geophysics, 4 ddh (2004 ft). 1959-61: Camflo Mattagami Mines Ltd. - ground geophysics, 2 ddh (1166 ft). 1976: Mattagami Lake Mines Limited - ground geophysics, 1 ddh (397 ft).

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The iron fromation consists of thinly banded graphtitic argillite. The overlying rocks are described as being amphibolitized mafic tuff or metasediment. Below the iron formation the amphibolite contains chlorte, biotite and garnet.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Diamond drilling completed by Bonnie Prince Syndicate intersected 75.0 ft of core assaying 25.7% Fe. A 135 lb bulk sample assaying 32.5% total Fe and 20.5% soluable Fe gave a magnetic concentrate of 70.3% soluable Fe, 1.54% SiO2 with 75.8% Fe recovery at a grind of 97.6%-200 mesh, 85.1% -325 mesh and a concentrate ratio of 4.7:1. Diamond drilling completed by Mattagami Lake in 1976 intersected 5 ft of metasediment that returned assays of 0.03% Zn and 8.52%Fe. The best Fe intersection returned 16.80% Fe over 5 ft.
