Geology Comments

Apr 03, 2014 (D Draper) - Property is covered by deep overburden (muskeg and clay) with few outcrops apart from bedrock exposed by trenching. General strike of Trench #3 showing is N 75 E with a steep north to vertical dip (AF T-201).

Lithology Comments

Apr 03, 2014 (D Draper) - Vein material is described as sporadic, mineralized lenses occuring along and near the contact of felsic and mafic intrusives. The lenses vary in length from 3 to 25 feet and from a half to 2 feet in width. Five separate occurrences of these veins were located on the property. Work was concentrated on the one nearest the south boundary of Claim S21857 (Trench #1). There is some disagreement between various property reports as to occurrence lithology: Hansen:1936- Sediments (argillite, quartzite, greywacke) intruded by quartz-porphyry. Burke:1939 - Veining along and near contact between quartz porphyry and basalt. Neeland:: 1946- Fine grain tuff with interbedded agglomerates and sediments, cut by feldspar, quartz-feldspar and quartz porphyries and containing bands of chlorite carbonate schist. Ferguson: 1955 - Country rocks are metamorphosed sediments; considered the intrusive units previously identified as porphyry to be granite.

Jan 18, 2024 (Sheree Hinz) - The property is underlain by a greenstone belt of Archean-aged metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks with metamorphic grades increasing from upper greenschist to amphibolite facies, transected by a major ductile shear zone (Filion Deformation Zone).
