Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Pegmatite 1 Biotite-Muscovite Sodic Host
Terrigenous-Clastic-Unsubdivided 2 Biotitic Adjacent

Lithology Comments

Apr 11, 2014 (A Wilson) - The dike is an albite-rich muscovite petmattie in which most of the potassium feldspar has been albitized. Minor, fine-grained, red garnet and rare green to blue fluorapatite and opaque oxide minerals are subtly present in hand specimen.

Mineralization Comments

Apr 11, 2014 (A Wilson) - A bulk sample of the dike returned 463 ppm Rb, 98 ppm Be, 60 ppm Ta, 29 ppm Ga and 18 ppm Sn, Nb/Ta of 0.77. Suggests that the pegmatite is fractionated and evolved. The ferro columbite contains 24.4 to 51.4 wt% Ta2O3 and the ferrotantalite contains 53.1 to 68.5 wt% Ta2O3
