Point Location Description: Outcrop on south bank of Abitibi River, at rapids near mouth of Dora Creek

Location Method: Based on Assessment

Access Description: Access to the showing is by road north of Cochrane to the Blount-Glackmeyer township boundary and [then] east along this road to Dora Lake. A truck may be driven along the east side of the fence line to the edge of the clearing. From this point, a trail follows the fence line to Dora creek and [from there follow] the west bank of the creek to the Abitibi River.

Lithology Comments

Jan 27, 2015 (D Draper) - An outcrop of pink granite-gneiss with bands of dark biotite gneiss occurs at the rapids. The gneissosity strikes N-S and dips east at 30 degrees. A pegmatite dyke is present on the south side of the outcrop for a distance of about 40 feet from the river bank. The dyke is from one to two feet in width and strikes at 150 degrees..

Dec 07, 2005 (D Draper) - Pegmatite dyke consisting almost entirely of feldspar contains a very small amount of molybdenite. (AF T-566).
