Jul 18, 2006 (C Salo) - The Zulapa prospect area has been described by Darling (1962) as being underlain by a series of acid and basic rocks oriented at approximately 250/60 and located immediately north of the main Reserve lake granite. oja (1963) described the rocks of the area as primarily biotite-quartzite (i.e., metasedimentary) intruded by sericitized quartz porphyry bodies. The quartzite was reported to have a strong magnetic response, while the porphyry coincides with magnetic lows. This deposit is loacted along strike with the nearby Reserve Creek Occurrences (MDI42M12SE00008). However, gold mineralization at the Zulapa appears to be associated with quartz veins in late-stage brittle fractures (in the competent felsic rocks) that have the following dominant orientations: 270/55 and 080/90. The type of mineralization reported at the Zulapa Prospect (visible gold associated with pyrite, chalcopyrite, magnetite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite and galena), the occurrence of mineralization in rocks described by Oja (1963) as porphyry intrusions, and the proximity of the deposit to a larger felsic intrusion indicate the possibility that this occurrence may be of the alkalic porphyry type described by Rogers et al. (1995).

Jul 18, 2006 (C Salo) - Gold mineralization in the vicinity of the Zulapa Prospect was reported by Darling (1962) to have been found in numerous quartz veins located in an area approximately 300 m long by 120 m wide. The mineralized quartz veins are associated with two fracture systems oriented at approximately 270/55 and 080/90. Gold mineralization was further reported to be largely confined to altered, sericitized, porphyritic dacite (or quartz porphyry intrusions). Sulphide minerals including pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena were also reported to be associated with the gold. Magnetite and pyrrhotite occur largely outside of the sericitic gold-mineralized zones. The relatively complex stockwork of veins that characterize the Zulapa deposite was reported by Oja (1963) to make it difficult to obtain a reliable ore grade estimate. He nevertheless estimated the drill indicated deposit to consist of a minable potential of 170,000 tons to a depth of 300 feet and 300,000 tons to a depth of 700 feet. IN their 1970 Annual Report, Zulapa Mining Corporation estimated drill-indicated reserves of 170,000 tons grading 0.28 ounce Au per ton to 300', plus additional tonnage to 700.'
Aug 27, 2014 (Therese Pettigrew) - In the A Zone, gold occurs associated with pyrite and chalcopyrite. In the B Zone, gold occurrence is associated with pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena. Ore shoots lie “en echelon” along the A Zone with erratic gold values. The B Zone appears to be a simple, regular, fracture system with a highgrade narrow quartz vein and a wider basalt dyke injection alternately pinching and swelling along the sericitized fracture zone (Darling, 1962 AFRI 42M12SW0006). Darling (1962) reported the following assayed values from the 1961 drill program: A Zone values : DDH A-1 : 31.0-42.6’ – 0.177 oz/t Au, A-3 : 42.3-53.8’ – 0.179 oz/t Au, A-7: 61.3-95.0’ – 0.216 oz/t Au, A-8: 72.6-81.0’ – 0.216 oz/t Au, A-9: 41.7-45.0’ – 0.337 oz/t Au, A-10: 127.0-181.4’ – 0.200 oz/t Au, A-11: 219.5-233’ – 0.163 oz/t Au, A-12 : 152.7-162.3’ – 0.136 oz/t Au, A-15 : 8.4-39.2’ – 0.304 oz/t Au, A-24: 168.5-175.0’ – 0.362 oz/t Au, A-25: 153-193.2’ – 0.425 oz/t Au. B Zone values : DDH A-18 : 48.0-81.6’ 0.275 oz/t Au, A-17 : 110.0-115.3’ – 0.495 oz/t Au. Oja (AFRI 42M12SW0006) reported the following assays from the 1963 drilling program : Z-1: 6.0’ width – 0.46 oz/t Au, Z-2: 1.5’ width – 1.11 oz/t Au, Z-14: 2.5’ width – 4.70 oz/t Au, Z-16: 1.0’ width – 2.11 oz/t Au, Z-20: 1.5’ width – 0.63 oz/t Au, Z-23: 1.0’ width – 0.54 oz/t Au, Z-24: 2.0’ width – 0.62 oz/t Au.
