Province: Superior

Subprovince: Sachigo

Terrane: North Caribou

Domain: Oxford-Stull

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

Oct 05, 2009 (A Wilson) - The stratigraphic section consists of Archean-aged, steeply dipping, mafic to felsic volcanic rocks with minor amounts of interflow sediments intruded by sills and small stocks of gabbro and granite. The volcanic units have been isoclinally folded to produce a weak to very strong foliation.

Mineralization Comments

Mar 07, 2007 (G Seim) - McF 03-18 27.5 m at 0.506%Cu, 4.83%Zn, 0.070ppmAu, 2.73ppm Ag Including 18.0 m at 0.61%Cu, 5.88%Zn, 0.069ppm Au, 2.77ppm Ag followed by 7.95 m at 1.502%Cu, 0.12%Zn, 0.321ppm Au, 8.47ppm Ag.

Aug 01, 2014 (A Wilson) - Significant intersections include 0.72% Cu and 3.13% Zn over 41.05 m including 0.25% Cu and 9.52% Zn over 1.5 m in MCG-03-18 and 5.5% Cu and 0.34% Zn over 13.81 m including 10.40% Cu and 0.86% Zn over 4.63 m in MCF-04-21. Elevated gold values return up to 0.22 g/t gold over 3.13 m. Drill hole MCF-04-45 averaged 4.9% Cu, 6.6% Zn, 0.45 g/t Au and 16.43 g/t Ag over 3.7 m. The mineralization of the deposit is variable with parts of massive pyrite with low-grade copper, massive magnetitie, massive chalcopyrite (18.8 m >8% Cu). The deposit is characterized by an envelope of magnesium-rich chlorite within which massive, semi-massive to disseminated magnetite has precipitate and/or replaced the chlorite. Co-existing with the Mg-chlorite rich horizon are lenses/bands of massive, semi-massive, stringers and disseminated pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite. There is a crude zoning in the deposit with the near surface mineralization rich in pyrite and pyrrhotite with a gradual increase in chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite with depth. Sphalerite is more common near surface and is usually concentrated above the chalcopyrite. Gold and silver concentrations are closely related to copper concentration. Assays from the 4 drill holes completed in 2010 returned Cu values range from 1.32 to 3.34% while Zn values range from 3.12 to 7.59%.

Jun 06, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - MCF-03-21: from 220.55-234.36 m (13.81 m) at 5.50% Cu, 0.34% Zn, 0.52 ppm Au and 15.40 ppm Ag (Spider Resources press release March 1, 2004); MCF-04-23: 15.0 m at 4.06% Cu, 0.03% Zn, 0.55 ppm Au, and 13.81 ppm Ag
