Mineralization Comments

Mar 01, 2018 (Therese Pettigrew) - Two showings, relatively small in size, are located along the contacts of the dyke, one on the north side, the other on the south side. The mineralized zone within the diabase dyke, about 0.6-0.9 m wide, is charactersized in thin section by disseminated specks of nickeliferous pyrrhotite with some chalcopyrite associated and intergrown with iron oxide grains, forming 15-20% of the rock and displaying a patchy distribution. The sulphide minerals are predominantly interstitial to and molded upon the silicate minearls. A sample of mineralized rock returned an assay of 0.15% Cu and 0.10% Ni with a trace of Pd. A grab sample taken by J.J.C. Geul assayed 0.20% Cu and 0.14% Ni. A third showing is about 152 m west of the others, near the southern scarp formed by the dyke. Trench material consists of altered medium- to coarse-grained dyke rock with weathered sulphide materials. Two grab samples of gossan material taken by J.J.C. Geul assayed 0.51% Cu and 0.24% Ni (Geul, 1970).
