Lithology Comments

Mar 02, 2018 (Therese Pettigrew) - The area is underlain by Precambrian sediments which have been intruded by gabbro and diabase dykes and sills also of Precambrian age. Erosion has produced a topography of broad flat valleys bounded by high hills and ridges. One such ridge up to 400 feet wide strikes east-west through the claims and has been mapped by Tanton for several miles beyond in either direction. It is an expression of a nearly vertical gabbro dyke, at whose southern margin the copper-nickel mineralization occurs in a 25 foot wide fault zone. The fault zone consists of two or more faults within the gabbro and one fault at the contact of gabbro with the sediments to the south. The dip of this faulted contact is 85 degrees south with downfaulting of the sediments indicated by drag at the exposure near the Arrow River falls (AFRI 52A04SW0073).

Mineralization Comments

Mar 02, 2018 (Therese Pettigrew) - Copper-nickel mineralization is present in a zone 7.6 m wide and over 1.6 km long. Grab samples from 3 pits returned assays of 0.11-0.42% Cu and 0.07-0.16% Ni (Geul, 1970). A chip samples along the eastern wall of the No.4 pit assayed 0.46% Cu, 0.38% Ni, 0.005 opt Au. 0.04 opt Ag, and a trace of Pt (AFRI 52A04SW0073).
