Mar 23, 2018 (Therese Pettigrew) - Veins of the silver-bearing type occur at the following localities: 700 feet north of the east end of Stephen Lake; on mining location D4, Oliver township; half a mile northwest of Kakabeka falls; and at a point described by Mr. J. Merrifield of Kakabeka Falls as being in the bed of a creek 2 miles north-northeast of the outlet of Twist Lake. The vein on mining location D4 outcrops on the south bank of Kaministikwia River with a width of 4 feet, and trends south 12 degrees west. The vein cuts hornblende schist traversed by pegmatite dykes; the foliation of the schist strikes north 80 degrees east. The vein holds horses of schist and of pegmatite and also small blocks of Animikie conglomerate and iron formation. The vein has heen stripped for over 200 feet southerly from the shore, exposing small concentrations of galena and chalcopyrite. Beyond this point the main vein is concealed but a network of smaller mineralized veins that here branch out from the main vein can he traced south 30 degrees west, in discontinuous outcrops for 100 feet (Tanton, 1931). DDH PM-89-02 assayed up to 20 ppm Ag (AFRI 52A05NE0004).
