Lithology Comments

Mar 24, 2015 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Gunflint iron formation is interbedded with biotite schist. The iron formation is a dark grey to black, fine-grained rock composed predominantly of magnetite, in thin bands or disseminated, and sugary quartz. This rock is generally drag folded and interbedded with a mafic metavolcanic. Fine quartz occurs with magnetite in the iron-rich bands and fine magnetite is disseminated within the cherty quartz bands.
