Mineralization Comments

Mar 24, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - The showing consists of narrow sulphide-bearing veins, probably occupying shear zones in a dark siliceous, metasedimentary rock. The veins carry arsenopyrite, pyrite, zinc, and gold. Sample JFS-64-7 collected by OGS staff member J. Scott assayed 1.06 oz/t Au, 1.40 oz/t Ag, 0.30% Zn, 0.09% Pb, and 3.10% As from a gossanous shear zone at Highway 11/17. Sample JFS-64-8 assayed 0.53 oz/t Au, 0.55 oz/t Ag, 2.36% Zn, 0.08% Pb, and 3.0% As from a vein at Highway 11/17 (Scott, 1986). Sample L37-05-01, located at NAD83 UTM Zone 16, 366564 mE, 5382182 mN returned 1.5 oz/t Ag from a siltsone with very good quartz crystallization (Assessment report 20000006873). In the “Driveway Zone”, 15 metres south of the quarry, a one metre wide pyritic zone oriented at 165/80 was located within an intermediate tuff. A grab sample assayed 0.02 oz Au/T (0.62 g/t Au). The zone, weathers an orange-tan colour and contains several small quartz veins and 3-5% pyrite. The rock surrounding the joints and veins in the zone appears bleached. At the “Highway Outcrop”, several 5-50cm wide silicified and sericitized zones within joint sets at various orientations contain up to 10% pyrite, trace sphalerite and chalcopyrite, and locally massive arsenopyrite. The massive arsenopyrite occurs in one vein and is typically 3-8cm wide. Samples containing massive arsenopyrite assayed up to 0.40 oz Au/T. The zones are highly weathered and poorly defined. The highest assays are from the zone closest to a lamprophyre dike. On the south side of the highway, a sample containing 10% pyrite in a quartz vein also spatially related to a lamprophyre dike, assayed 0.04 oz Au/T. Several samples of quartz veins within a lamprophyre dike assayed trace Au/T (Assessment report 52A10SW0005). DDH 1 returned up to 532 ppb Au over 2 feet (0.61 m) from a dacite with intense buff brown sericite alteration with 30-60% carbonate and up to 20% pyrite (Assessment report 52H07SW0005). Samples taken from <2 cm wide siliceous veins cross-cutting mafic volcanic rocks by prospector W. Hayne yielded up to 0.15 oz/t Au, 15.2% Zn, and traces of arsenopyrite. The veins are loctaed on the northwestern side of Highway 11-17 near the junction with Nelson Road (Scott, 1984).
