Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (B Schnieders) - Pat Haskell discovered an extension of the ultramafic intrusion which undelies the adjacent Hele property of East West in the southwest corner of Hele Townsip in 2002. Medium-grained pyroxenite is in contact with Rossport Formation dolostone, and is overlain by a diabase sill. A grab sample with minor, blebby chalcopyrite collected by the Residient geologost's staff at the Foxden Occurrence returned 412 ppm Cu, 1011 ppm Ni, 36 ppb Pt, 27 ppb Pd (OFR 6112, Schnieders et al., 2003). Sample 02-BPH-03 serpentinized ultramafic from the Foxden Occurrence assayed 117 ppm Cu, 1150 ppm Ni, 38.39 ppb Pd and 76.95 ppb Pt and responded positive to nickle-test (Resident Geologist's Files, Thunder Bay).
