Lithology Comments

May 19, 2016 (Therese Pettigrew) - The general geology of the Band-Ore Prospect consists of predominantly intermediate to mafic metavolcanics that have been intruded by mafic sills (coarse flows) and porphyritic felsic rocks. The metavolcanics consist of interbedded flows and pyroclastic rocks. The flows consist of a massive basal portion through a pillowed sequence, to an upper section of hyaloclastite (aquagene breccia) and pillow breccia. Slump breccias appear associated with the pillowed flows. Overlying the flow units are up to 1,000 metres of predominantly mafic pyroclastic rocks (Morin, 1973), comprised of fine-grained tuff, lapilli tuff and tuff breccia. Felsic metavolcanic units occur intercalated with the mafic flows and pyroclastic rocks. Feldspar-quartz, quartz and feldspar porphyry dikes, sills and stocks intrude the metavolcanics. The sills are oriented subparallel to both the stratigraphy and foliation. The porphyry units are related to either the Shebandowan Lake Stock or to the felsic metavolcanics as near surface (sub-layer) intrusions. Gabbro sills and/or coarse-grained mafic metavolcanic flows occur intruding and intercalated with the metavolcanic sequence. The Shebandowan Lake Stock is composed of quartz-diorite in the Band-Ore Prospect area. Shear zones are well developed in all rock types, however, shearing, carbonatization and silicification is most intense near the contacts of the stock. The metavolcanic rocks display a well developed southeast schistosity, subparallel to both the Crayfish Creek and Postans Faults (Schnieders and Dutka, 1985).

Mineralization Comments

May 19, 2016 (Therese Pettigrew) - The 1944 drill program by Auband Gold Mines intersected gold-bearing shear zones in feldspar porphyry. In one hole, a shear zone contained quartz stringers with pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, and gold. Gold appears to be associated with chalcopyrite. One core sample assayed 0.3 oz/t Au (10.28 g/t Au). The intersected shear zones vary in width from 2.5 to 3 feet with an average assay of 0.10 oz/t Au (3.4 g/t Au). The drilling results from the 1945-46 program by Freeport Exploration indicated that the shear zones are probably narrow. Assays from this program included 0.18 oz/t Au over 3.8 ft, 0.24 oz/t Au over 3.4 ft, 0.06 oz/t Au over 1 ft, and 0.23 oz/t Au over 4.7 ft. Surface geology consists of intermediate metavolcanics and gabbro. Shearing is present in all rock types, but is especially well-developed in the feldspar porphyry. Shear zones in the porphyry are silicified. (Morin, 1973). Drilling results from the 2011 drill program include 1.7 g/t Au over 10.8 m, 2.8 g/t Au over 5.5 m, 18.27 g/t over 2.7 m, and 17.85 g/t Au over 2.7m (http://www.goldenshare.ca/#!shebandowan/e8uf9). DDH BO-22-01 returned 13.4 g/t Au over 0.5 m from 80.5 m depth and 34.0 g/t Au over 0.5 mm from 168.0 m depth. DDH BO-22-03 returned 8.69 g/t Au over 1.5 m (E2Gold Inc. news release January 16, 2023).
