Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (R Degagne) - The area was mapped by Tanton (1938) and Hodgkinson (1968) who both noted the talc occurrence. The area is underlain by mafic metavolcanics intruded by gabbroic rocks. Talc-bearing chlorite schist was noted near the shoreline of the lake and about 200 m inland. Talc-carbonate schist, interpreted to be metaperidotite, is noted in drill logs by Falconbridge Nickel Mines Ltd. from exploratory drilling carried out in 1974 in the vicinity of the occurrence (Resident Geologists Files, MNDM, Thunder Bay).
