Point Location Description: Diamond drill holes
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: Highway 11 passes through the northern part of the Ray Smith property, approximately 110 km west of Thunder Bay. Access to the trench area is by private road, south of Highway 11. At a coordinate of 696 200 E, 5394 000 N, there is a short gravel road a few hundred metres long which requires using a 4 wheel drive truck to access the area of the current work. This road becomes an ATV trail which accesses the main shear zone where Knut Kuhner blasted a trench in 1980. These trails also branch out to access the power line and are in current use by the power company. The power line runs east-west through the northern and southern portions of the property.
1954-55: Ray Smith drilled 16 diamond drill holes totalling 1910 feet. 1955: The Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company conducted an Eectromagnetic survey, outlining a conductor zone. They diamond drilled 5 holes totalling 1324 feet. 1957: Romar Mines Limited performed magnetometer and SP surveys. 1959: 2 diamond drill holes were drilled to test the anomalies that Romar found. 1960: Realm Mining Corporation Limited sampled the area and drilled 6 diamond drill holes to test a quartz vein system. 1960: Tabor Lake Gold Mines Limited diamond drilled 12 holes totalling 2312 feet. Stripping, sampling and additional staking was also carried out. 1980: Knut Kuhner carried out trenching, sampling and milling of 47 tons of ore material. 7 tons of ore were milled by Noranda and the remaining 40 tons were milled by Northern Concentrators. The 47 tons yielded approximately 13 oz og gold. 1983: Lincoln Resources Inc. diamond drilled 14 holes totalling 980 metres to investigate the continuation to depth of gold-bearing quartz veins and search for parallel or cross-cutting mineralized structures in vicinity. They also cut a grid on 60 metre intervals and used geophysics (magnetic and VLF-EM) and geological mapping including B-Horizon and Humus soil samples, to find drill targets. 2011: Bedrock Stripping, Channel Sampling, and Trench Mapping Program completed by J. & J. Hackl and Bjorkman Prospecting.
