Exploration History

1896: In the Goldcreek area, gold was first reported by government geologist on the shores of Gold Creek. 1943-44: Gunflint Iron Mines Ltd. completed a surface work program of prospecting, channel sampling and 2,796 feet (852 m) of diamond drilling (12 holes) to test the Matawin iron formation, it was found that some gold mineralization was found in the general area of the I-Zone. 1956-57: Monpre Mining Company Ltd. explored a block of claims along the Matawin iron formation in central Duckworth and Laurie townships. Ground geophysics, geological mapping and 10,592 feet (3,228 m) of diamond drilling delineated 100 million tons of 30% Fe and an open pit mining pre-feasibility plan was prepared (Litchtblau 1997 and OGS 1995). The property went dormant until 1983 when the patented claims lapsed. 1983-84: Jalna Resources Ltd completed a significant exploration over a large area of Duckworth and Laurie Townships including ground and airborne surveys, geological mapping, geochemical surveys, trenching, sampling and overburden drilling. Prospecting verified earlier anomalous gold showings in the area of the I Zone. 1984-85: Anaconda Canada Exploration Ltd. (“Anaconda”) followed up the work completed by Jalna with 3,665 feet (1117 m) of diamond drilling, in 13 holes and confirmed the anomalous gold values over the I-Zone. 1987: INCO Gold completed a geological and magnetometer survey over a large portion of Duckworth and Laurie Townships identifying fifteen areas of anomalous gold mineralization and/or strong alteration. The I Zone was targey "I". Dyke 10 (I-Zone) was tested in 1987 and the hole DDH-74874 intersected a syenite dyke cut by quartz veining with traces of pyrite at 141.47 m assaying 1.98 ppm Au over 0.87 m. A second hole DDH-74875 intersected a syenite dyke with a pyrite band at 137.78 m assaying 2.47 ppm Au over 0.43 m and a third hole DDH-74876 intersected a syenite dyke cut by quartz veins with visible gold and traces of pyrite and chalcopyrite at 69.19 m assaying 3.28 ppm Au over 5.64 m. 1988: Stripping and trenching was undertaken. 1995-97 Landore Resources Inc. carried out ground and airborne geophysics, mapping, stripping, channel sampling and a seven diamond drill hole program totalling 304.8 m. 2003: Landore completed a small mapping and prospecting progam. 2006 HELM Resources Inc. completed a 498 line km airborne VTEM and total field magnetic survey over the Property. Scodnick and Allard completed a Beep Mat Survey over the I-Zone.

Geology Comments

Aug 23, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - E-trending segments of slaty, magnetite, hematite cherty iron formation in Archean (Windigokan) sediments, steep dipping but in part synclinally folded and in part as en-echelon segments. Width up to 900 feet. Best section (Duckworth Township) is 10,275 feet long and 50 to 433 feet wide (averaging Zl7 feet) with a weighted average of 290 56% soluble iron. Another section (Laurie Township) is about 1200 feet long and 100 to 500 feet wide averaging 26% soluble Fe.
