Exploration History

1896: Au first reported by OGS geologist on the shores of Au creek. Historically, the property has been explored for Fe and Au mineralization associated with Fe formations. 1943: Gunflint Fe mines- prospecting, channel sampling, DDH (12 holes, 852 m) to test coincident Matawin Fe formation and Au mineralizations. 1956: Monpre Mining Company- looked at the Matawin Fe formation and DDH, mapping, geophysics. 1983: Jalna Resources- ground and airborne geophysics, mapping, trenching, sampling (several Au mineralized zones were located: North, South, Ternowesky and Creek Zones). 1984: Anaconda Canada Explorations Ltd.- DDH (x13) and found many anomalous Au values (I-zone, North Zone, T-zone and Creek Zone). 1984: OGS mapping of Duckworth township. 1985-1989: Noranda- magnetics, gravity surveys, geochemical sampling, mapping, channel sampling. 1987: Inco Gold Company-prospecting, trenching, DDH. 1989: Inco carried out geological mapping, prospecting, stripping, trenching, and sampling. 1990: Inco stripped and washed the S1 zone and drilled 2 DDH totalling 164.6 m. 1991: MNDM Regional Airborne Survey. 1995: Anaconda- ground geophysics, trenching, DDH. 2002: E. Fournier carried out prospecting and sampling. 2006: 6531199 Canada Inc optioned the property and completed a two-hole (DT-06-01 & DT-06-02) drill program on the S1 Zone to test the gold values encountered in historical Inco drill holes in the area. 2020: Portofino Resources Inc. carried out prospecting and sampling. 2021: Portofino Resources Inc. drilled 2 DDH totalling 261 m.

Geology Comments

Mar 07, 2013 (Shannon Zurevinski) - The Shebandowan GB represents a post0Keewatin intracratonic basin assemblage consisting of a suite of volcanic and sedimentary rocks. The volcanics in the Shebandowan Mine area have been dated at 2689 a (Corfu and Stott 1986). The units consist of supracrustal rocks of ultramafic, mafic, intermediate and felsic metavolcanic rocks of the Shebandowan GB. The metavolcanics and metasediments are intruded by peridotites, gabbros, and feldspar porphyries (the SHebandowan Lake Stock and the Kekekuab Lake pluton). Late diabase and lamprophye dikes cut all of the units. The property area is mainly E-W trending volcanics, potassic rich calc-alkaline rocks (Shegelski 1980). Related deposits in the area are 1) the Shebandowan Ni-Cu-PGE mine on the Crayfish Creek fault (14 km NW of the I-Zone); 2) North Coldstream Cu Mine- 32 km W-NW; 3) Ardeen property (aka Huronian) Au mine (Pele Mountain) and 4) the Moss Lake property.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 22, 2016 (Shannon Zurevinski) - JF Scott Field Visit: 15U 712603/5383007 Inco S1 Zone @ 175 g/t Au in grab sample; 15U 712503/5382794 Inco T2 Zone @ 131.0 g/t Au grab sample.

Feb 01, 2023 (Therese Pettigrew) - Mineralization at the S1 Zone is associated with quartz veins hosted in hematized, albitized and silicified granodiorite with iron carbonate, pyrite and galena. Grab samples assayed up to 13.2gpt Au. Hole GC-2021-04 returned 1.71 gpt Au over 6.95 m, including 2.4 gpt Au over 3.36 m, with individual values up to 6.37 gpt Au over 0.43 m. This was within a strongly potassium-altered and silicified monzonite / monzodiorite dyke with 0.5-2% pyrite and minor to moderate white quartz veining, containing minor pyrite, trace chalcopyrite, and trace galena, with a few specks of visible gold observed in one stringer (Assessment report 20000020176). Sampling by Portofino Resources in 2020 returned 5.12 g/t Au from quartz veins in a monzonite dyke (Assessment report 20000019257).
