Access Description: Access from Thunder Bay is west along paved Highway 11-17 for 24 kilometers to Kakabeka Falls, west on paved Highway 590 for 16 kilometers to the junction with the Great Lakes Forest Products gravel road, west and north on the gravel road for 30 kilometers, followed by 6 kilometers of mud and quagmire that requires a four-wheel drive vehicle with a winch whenever the road is wet. In winter, the road is maintained by Great Lakes Forest Products, and the property is accessible by truck.
1895: Ontario Bureau of Mines Report describes the Quartzite Mine located 900 m to the west as four prospecting pits. 1983: Todd Sanders and Jurate Lukosius-Sanders staked the showing. Jalna Resources optioned the property and carried out 81 km of geological mapping, 283 rock chip sampes, 2352 soil samples, prospecting, 243 overburden drill hole, induced polarization, magnetomater and VLF surveys. A broad area of elevated gold was outlined and referred to as the Creek Zone. John Ternowesky, D. Walsten and W. Hayne staked several claims in the Goldcreek area in 1983 and optioned them to Jalna Resources Ltd (“Jalna”).1984: Jalna Resources performed stripping and trenching in the area, including some of the original pits. Four high priority zones were identified: North, South, Ternowesky and Creek Zones. Anaconda Canada Exploration optioned the property and drill tested the mineraliztion. 1985: An airborne electromagnetic and magnetometer surveys were flown over the area. 1986: Due to certain difficulties in financing, Jalna terminated their option on the "Gold Creek" claims and the property (415 mining claims at the time) was subsequently optioned by Inco in November 1986. 1987: Inco Gold Canada completed mapping, systematically sampling of numerous outcrops, detailed mapping trenches areas and diamond drilling over the area of the prospect. 1995-1997: Landore Resources Inc. carried out ground and airborne geophysics, mapping, stripping, mapping, channel sampling and diamond drilling on North and South Zones in an effort to twin Inco drill results. 2007: Mengold Resources optioned the claims covering the Gold Creek group of showings completing reconnaisance geology, outcrop stripping, and channel sampling. 2008: The South and I- Zones were mapped and sampled during the summer-field program. Mengold entered into a binding Letter of Intent (LOI) with Solomon Resources Limited (Solomon) for an Option and Joint Venture on the Goldcreek Property. Solomon was the operator during the earn-in phase and Mengold acted as project manager. Solomon did not commit to a 2009 field program and the option has been terminated. Mengold made the final option payment. Mengold Res changed its name to MGold Res. 2010: MGold terminated the Goldcreek Property agreement and abandoned the property.

Aug 18, 2016 (Andrew Tims) - A complex of mainly felsic, intrusive to extrusive quartz and feldspar-phyric rocks (unit Ib) is exposed between the Ternowesky, North, and South Zones. Broad, semi-arcuate zones highly enriched in muscovite, which grade into the fracture networks outlined above are characteristic of the main mineralized zones. The alignment of the exceptionally profuse muscovite gives the rock an 'asbestiform 1 aspect. These zones commonly display patchy yellow weathering, and contain sparse, bright green muscovite. They also contain abundant, fine grained pyrite which also defines the lineation. To date, these rocks have returned the highest gold values of the arsenic- and gold assays. Gold values correlate positively with the presence of sericitic and pyritic alteration. Gold is enriched in the highly sericitized rocks, and in those with actinolite veins and their bleached margins which also contain abundant pyrite. Quartz veins in this area are minor. Most are barren of metallic minerals. However, one sulphide-bearing quartz vein, exposed in the core of one of the very highly sericitized bands in the Ternowesky zone yielded a gold assay of 6.08 oz/ton.
