Mineralization Comments

Jan 13, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - Five zones outlined. North or "A" zone is 6800 feet by 40 feet and contains 31,605 tons per vert, foot of 29.51 sol. Fe; "B" zone to south is 2,050 feet by approx. 12 feet; "C" zone is 2,800 feet long; "D" zone is 2,300 feet long; and "E" zone 2,400 feet by approx. 20 feet. Tests indicate a concentrate grading 67.2 to 69.8% Fe could be produced by grinding to -100 M with a 83% Fe recovery (Shklanka, 1968). Information with regard to a hole drilled jointly by Noranda Mines, Limited, and Prospectors Airways Company, Limited, in Carpenter township has been supplied by Prospectors Airways Company, Limited. This hole was put down near the centre of the south half of lot 9, concession 2, and in proximity to the linear magnetic anomaly referred to above. The hole was directed S60E. at an angle of 55 degrees and, on completion at 600 feet, the dip had flattened to 42 degrees. A partial log of the hole is as follows: 0 to 175 feet, casing; 175 to 381 feet, siliceous gneissic sediment; 381 to 429 feet, garnet-mica-magnetite zone; 429 to 600 feet, garnetiferous biotite gneiss and chloritized gneissic sediment. The magnetite band encountered in this hole had a true width of about 35 feet. A representative sample ran 34.8 percent iron and 49.0 percent solubles (mostly silica). On grinding to 100 mesh, 89.1 percent of the iron content was recovered as a magnetic concentrate containing 65.6 percent iron (Fletcher and Irvine, 1955).
