Lithology Comments

Jul 29, 2022 (Therese Pettigrew) - From Goodwin (1965): "The rocks at the mine consist of altered basic lavas intruded by a boss of granite (Bruce 1925, pp.10-13). South of the shaft, the contact between greenstone and granite is remarkably sharp the granite having produced negligible effect upon the greenstone. In general, the veins at the Regina mine are normal to the contact between granite and greenstone. The veins are lenticular. The main vein strikes approximately N.70 W. and dips about vertical. The width of the quartz is 2 feet. The main ore shoot was chimney-like, and probably was closely related to the contact between granite and greenstone."

Mineralization Comments

Jul 29, 2022 (Therese Pettigrew) - From Goodwin (1965): "The veins vary from a few inches to 12 to 15 feet wide. The vein upon which the shaft was sunk varies in width from 2 to 6 feet and averages about 4 feet as reported by Parsons (1911, p.173). The vein is principally milky white quartz with local rusty carbonate. The quartz contains small amounts of sphalerite, pyrite and native gold. No. 1 vein is from 6 to 8 inches wide; No. 2 ranges from a trace to 1 foot wide. Most veins extend several hundred feet at least along strike. Only the main vein, No. 3, seems to have been economic."
