Exploration History

1930: Gold was discovered in the High Lake area by C. Alcock. 1953: San Antonio Gold Mines Ltd. explored and drilled 24 holes across the property. 1960: Electrum Lake Gold Mines Ltd. drilled 70 holes across the property (11 holes totalling 1399 ft in the W Zone) and performed geological mapping, magnetic and EM surveys. 1965-66: Mag and IP surveys by Steep Iron Mines Ltd. 1983: Barrier Reef Resources Ltd. optioned the property and conducted geological mapping, geochemical soil sampling, magnetometer and VLF electromagnetic surveys. 1984: Barrier assigned its rights in the High Lake Property to a subsidiary company Francis Resources Ltd. 1985: Francis Resources was merged with Northcal Resources Ltd. to form Calnor Resources Ltd. 1986: Calnor Resources Ltd. drilled 22 DDH totalling 7594 ft. 1987: Laramide Service Corp. conducted a trenching, mapping and sampling program. 2006: mining lease owned by Canadian Star Minerals Ltd. 2011: Canadian Star transferred the adjacent claims to International Millennium Mining Corp.

Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Wabigoon

Belt: Lake of the Woods

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

Mar 10, 2015 (C Ravnaas) - The area is underlain by the High Lake porphyritic granodioritie stock, which intrudes Archean mafic metavolcanic rocks. The stock has been interpreted to be two intrusions (1965, Colvine 1979).

Lithology Comments

Mar 10, 2015 (Therese Pettigrew) - The High Lake stock is generally referred to as a porphyritic granodiorite. Typically this rock is grey weathering and massive, containing about 60% plagioclase, 30% quartz and up to 10% biotite. Greyish quartz-eyes and coarse, euhedral microcline crystals (up to 4 cm long) are frequently present (AFRI 52E11NE9222).

Mineralization Comments

Mar 10, 2015 (C Ravnaas) - At the W zone, visible gold can be found on surface in a number of places, especially associated with pyrite-bearing, quartz-tourmaline veins, and had also been reported in drill cores (Davies and Smith, 1988).GRADE: HIGHEST ASSAY - 0.04 OPT AU + 0.06% CU.

Mar 10, 2015 (Therese Pettigrew) - Gold is found in zones of shearing within clean, uncontaminated High Lake granodiorite. It is associated with pyrite-filled fractures and with pyrite-bearing quartz tourmaline veins (AFRI 52E11NE9222). The mineralization occurs within highly sheared and silicified porphyry with lenses and irregular masses of vein quartz accompanied by minor pyrite, black tourmaline and carbonate. Visible gold is reported in some of the old trenches. The shearing strikes at the regional trend of N60E, but it is offset by other shears striking N10E to N30E with the result that the overall trend of the mineralized zone is N35E. Unlike the other zones on the property, the W Zone shows reasonable continuity and it has been traced by trenching over a strike length of over 700 feet. Samples collected from trenches assayed 0.04 opt Au over 2.58 feet in TR-8, 0.12 opt Au over 6.0 feet in TR-6 and 0.39 opt au over 5.5 feet in TR-7. A total of 56 samples were taken from 17 trenches. Individual samples ranged from trace to a maximum of 0.66 opt Au over a width of 2.5 ft in TR-7 (AFRI 52E11NE9032).
