Exploration History

1951: A showing was discovered by A. Gauthier, M. Jensen and H. Silverman of Kenora; property was optioned to INCO and surface trenching was completed. 1953: A. Gauthier discovered chalcopyrite in a narrow east-trending shear zone in gabbro. A group of 8 claims were staked, owned by A. Gauthier and B.F. Nilson, and in the subsequent prospecting, copper and nickel were discovered in peridotite under a shallow drift cover. 1954: Property was optioned by M.J. Boylen Engineering Company. About 5 holes were drilled in the vicinity of the showings. 1955: The option was dropped and 4 claims were brought to lease, but the property lay idle until 1967. 1967: C.C. Huston and Associates staked 53 additional claims IP surveys were done. 9 holes were drilled on the 5 anomalies that were outlined by the geophysical surveying. 2007-2008: Between the months of March 2007 and March 2008, Canadian Arrow Mines Ltd., completed an integrated exploration program on claims, collectively called Caribou Lodge, Ross Creek and Green Bay Showings all located on the Denmark Lake Property. This program consisted of airborne AEROTEM-MAG surveys, geological mapping, trenching and diamond drilling. 2012: San Gold Corp, performed airborne electromagnetic and magnetic surveys.

Geology Comments

Feb 15, 2011 (J Bongfelt) - 'The intrusive complex at Denmark Lake consists of peridotite, pyroxenite gabbro, diorite, quartz diorite, granodiorite and amphibolite, with enclosed remnants of metavolcanic rocks. Each rock type is compositionally and texturally variable and is intimately associated with other rock types. The oldest rocks of the complex appear to be ultramafic, with gabbro, diorite, quartz diorite, and granodiorite being successively younger. (File 20000004040).

Lithology Comments

Feb 15, 2011 (J Bongfelt) - 'The original caribou Lodge Showing located on the north shore of Denmark Lake consists of a number of narrow rusty zones in gabbro-diorite trending at azimuth 335º and two roughly east-west trending trenches dug across the projected northerly trend of the zone. The first trench, located just north of Denmark Lake, encountered rusty pyroxenite. The second trench, located approximately 50 metres north of the lake, contains rusty gabbro and pyroxenite float, presumably from the trench. Sulphide mineralization consists of 2-20% disseminated pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite.'. (File 20000004040).

Mineralization Comments

Feb 15, 2011 (J Bongfelt) - Occurrence information: 1951: It is reported that only surface trenching was completed, the assays across a width of 21.5 feet being 0.64% Cu and 0.48% Ni. (Kenora Historical File 52F/05NE00045, Gauthier-Nilson - Doc. CU 4) 2007-08: Best grab sample results in the program area for Nickel %: 0.8%, 0.7% & 0.6101%. For Copper %: 0.76%, 0.61%, 0.56%. For Pt gm/t: 0.637 gm/t, 0.42 gm/t & 0.3 gm/t. (Kenora AF 52F/05NE, KK-6, Canadian Arrow Mines Ltd., Geo Report, Table 3 - Grab Samples Results) Prospect information: 1953: An X-ray hole drilled from east to west reported to contain 0.78% Ni and 0.78% Cu over 50 feet. 1967: 9 drill holes on the five anomalies that were outlined by geophysical surveying revealed the following sample drill assay results: 0.19% Ni and 0.27% Cu over 41.9 feet; 0.23% Ni and 0.26% Cu over 36.1 feet; and, 0.79% Ni and 1.12% Cu over 5.8 feet. (Kenora Historical File 52F/05NE00045, Gauthier-Nilson - Doc. CU 4 & GR.111, pg.47-49) 2008: Canadian Arrow Mines Ltd. intersected massive Ni-Cu sulphides while drilling the Caribou Lodge Showing. A high grade section assaying 4.51% Ni, 0.44% Cu, 0.15% Co over a core length of 0.75 meters was discovered in hole CL-08-01. (File 20000004040).
