Point Location Description: Hope Lake Property - located E of Lobstick Bay&65km SE of the City of Kenora, ON
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: Access is by means of the Maybrun Mine road that departs eastwards from Hwy. 71, approx. 60km south of Kenora, ON. The Maybrun Mine road is a gravelled forestry access road that is reasonably well maintained and can be accessible on a round-round basis.
The Fairservice-Hope Lake property was previously mapped by the Ontario Geological survey: Burwash in 1934, and Johns, Good and Davison in 1984. The Atikwa Lake area immediately east of the property was mapped by Davies in 1973. Minimal mineral exploration work has been done previously on the property. Four claims in the northwest part of the property were patented in 1900 and a gold value of 0.25 opt was apparently reported (Fairservice, pers. comm. 1984). The Fairservice-Hope Lake claim group contains two new gold showings discovered by R. Fairservice in 1983. A carbonatizedsilicified shear zone on the northern shore of Mushkasu Lake was sampled and contained 0.35 opt Au. A silicified shear zone lying north of the road, southeast of Porphyry Lake, was reported to contain 0.5 opt Au. (Kenora AF 52F/05NW, M-2, Noranda Exploration Limited, Report - pg.1-2) Exploration in the area has been sporadic since the early 1900's. The earliest significant Au discovery, the Grand Chibougamu occurrence, lies within the Hope Lake claim group (in the southern part of the claim group, Caviar Lake). It was discovered and explored by stripping and trenching in 1948-1949. In 1987, Tanqueray Resources Ltd acquired this occurrence and carried out ground magnetometer and VLF-EM surveys, an orientation humus geochemical survey, geological mapping in a small area immediately surrounding the prospect and an 11-hole, 2321 feet (707 m) diamond drill program. Between 1992 and 1994, Champion Bear Resources Ltd. completed line cutting, a ground magnetometer survey, stripping and sampling. In 1983, R. Fairservice made a gold discovery in the northern part of the claim group (northeast of Mushkasu Lake), within the area covered by this report. Since 1983, work in this area has been completed by several major companies as summarized below: 1983-1984 Noranda Exploration: linecutting, geological mapping, prospecting, ground magnetometer survey, and IP survey. 1985-1986 BP Selco: Geological mapping, VLF-EM, and IP surveys; Diamond drilling (11holes). 1987-1988 Granges Exploration Inc.: 15 drill holes (1452m). 1989-1990 Placer Dome: 4 drill holes The property occurs within an area mapped by the Ontario Geological Survey (P.2595) (Johns et a1., 1984 and Thompson, J964). An airborne geophysical survey (magnetic and electromagnetic) was carried out on behalf of the OGS, and includcd Hope Lake (1987 maps 80998, 81001). Cabo acquired the property in the spring of 2004, and carried out a limited geological mapping and sampling program during the summer to verify zones of known mineralization and plan a more extensive exploration program. In 2005, it carried out diamond drilling in nine holes, five within the Mushkasu Lake Showing and four within the Porphyry Lake Showing. The drilling tested geological and geophyslcal targets and encountered minor gold mineralization. (Kenora AF 52F/05NW, EE-1, International Millennium Mining Corp., Report - pg.3-4) The 2008 MMI survey consisted of 336 samples on 18 lines totalling 16,300 meters. The 2009 MMI survey consisted of 419 samples on 15 lines totalling 11,474 meters. They were picked up every 25 meters on 100-meter separated north-south lines. In addition, the line spacing was reduced to 50 meters within the Porphyry Lake showing area. These were bagged and sent to SGS Laboratories in Toronto, Ontario for analysis where they were tested for 46 elements. Province: Superior
Geological Age: Precambrian
Feb 15, 2011 (J Bongfelt) - The Hope Lake Property occurs in the Lake of the Woods greenstone belt. This grecnstone belt is located near the western end of the western Wabigoon region of theWabigoon Subprovince of the Superior Province of the Canadian Shield. The Wabigoon Subprovince is 900 km long, trends east-west, and comprises of 3.0 to 2.71 Ga (billion year old) metavolcanic and subordinate metasedimentary rocks which are surrounded and cut by 3.0 to 2.69 Ga granitoid rocks. (Kenora AF 52F/05NW, EE-1, International Millennium Mining Corp., Report - pg.4)
Feb 15, 2011 (J Bongfelt) - The Hope Lake Claim Group lies within a wedge of Archean aged metavolcanic rocks that is located between the Atikwa and Dryberry granitic batholiths. The rocks consist mainly of northeast trending pillowed to massive mafic volcanics. Three gold showings occur on the property and these are the Grand Chibougamu, the Mushkasu Lake, and the Porphyry Lake. All three gold prospects are thought to occur within structurally controlled shear zones with intense carbonate alteration and silica flooding as well as associated sulphides mineralization. (Kenora AF 52F/05NW, EE-2, International Millennium Mining Corp.)
Feb 15, 2011 (J Bongfelt) - The following is proof of an occurrence: 'A silicified shear zone lying north of the road, southeast of Porphyry Lake, was reported to contain 0.5 opt Au' - discovered by R. Fairservice in 1983. (Kenora AF 52F/05NW, M-2, Noranda Exploration Limited, Report - pg.1-2) ' the Porphyry Lake occurrence discovered by Noranda prospectors in 1983 - grab samples from this quartz-carbonate veining in this area have contained from trace to 2.05 g/t Au' (Kenora AF 52F/05NW, EE-1, International Millennium Mining Corp., Report - pg.5) The following is proof of a prospect: Drill program conducted by Cabo Mining Enterprises drilled four holes within the Porphyry Lake Showing - the best intersection was 1.81 g/t Au (1800 ppb) over a length of 0.4 metres. (Kenora AF 52F/05NW, BB-4, Cabo Mining Enterprises, Report - pg.7)
