Lithology Comments

Sep 18, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - The surface geology consists of highly sheared mafic metavolcanics with gabbro and dacitic tuff in the southern part of the claim group (Davies and Morin, 1976).

Mineralization Comments

Sep 18, 2017 (R Tuomi) - The 1960 program reported the occurrence being underlain by sheared mafic and intermediate metavolcanic rocks and gabbro. Minor chalcopyrite was observed in trenches. The 1972 DDH found mineralization approx. 750 m NW of Cates Occurrence, in Claim K314088, south of the south end of Derry Lake and included massive pyrite intersections up to 0.7 m wide. Grab samples from the 1973 program assayed up to 6.43% Cu.

Sep 18, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - Southeast of Derry Lake, trenching across sheared mafic metavolcanic rocks revealed minor chalcopyrite in this cross fracture, but geophysical surveys along strike of the shearing failed to establish continuity of the mineralization (Davies and Morin, 1976). Gold Fields found highly sheared, generally non-carbonated mafic to intermediate find-grained to porphyritic metavolcanic rocks containing up to 5% disseminated pyrite and up to 4% chalcopyrite and traces of barite in trenches. No significant gold assays were returned (AFRI 52F05SW0055). In 2010, Soldi Ventures collected Sample RE735583, which was a sample of banded siliceous intermediate tuff with fine-grained pyrite and returned an assay of 165 ppm Cu (AFRI 20000007326).
