Geology

Province: Superior

Geological Age: Precambrian

Geology Comments

Nov 23, 2010 (J Bongfelt) - The property is located in the Wabigoon Volcanic Belt of the Superior Structural Province. A broad band of north-south trending basic volcanics occupies the southwest part of the area and joins a north-east trend:ng belt of felsic to intermediate volcanics, principally rhyolite and dacite tuff, agglomerate and flows as well as quartz and feldspar porphyries. This belt which measures approximately 1.6km in width at its widest point, extends for 8km from west of Fornieri Bay eastward to the east end of Eagle Lake (open end of Buchan Bay). The southern and western part of the belt is intruded by granitoid rocks of the Atikwa Batholith (Eagle Lake and Dore Lake Lobes) and a stock centered in Froghead Bay. (Kenora AF 52F/11NE, FF-2 - Geo Report, pg. 2)

Lithology Comments

Nov 23, 2010 (J Bongfelt) - 'A mineralized shear zone exposed on L112+00E at 9885N cuts intermediate to felsic lapilli tuff. Grab samples taken over a width of 3m have yielded values to 4.25 g/t Au. The zone trends 060 degrees azimuth and is traceable over a strike length of 10m before disappearing in overburden cover. Associated sulphides include up to 5% py with subordinate chalcopyrite and galena. Immediately south of the shear zone a quartz porphyry body of undetermined width with disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite yields values to 340 ppb Au.' (Kenora AF 52F/11NE, FF-2 - Geo Report, pg. 5)
