Exploration History

'An agreement was reached between International Platinum and Teck to explore the Eagle Lake base metal prospect near Dryden, Ont. Under the terms of the agreement, Teck will spend $1.65 million over 4.5 years to earn at 51% interest in the property. International Platinum has been exploring the property for four years and has identified three zones of stringer zinc-copper mineralization in a favourable volcanic environment. A 4,000-ft. drilling program is scheduled to commence immediately' - The Northern Miner - March 19, 1990. (Kenora Historical File 52F/11NE00060, Farabouat Penn. Northeast)

Geology

Province: Superior

Geological Age: Precambrian

Geology Comments

Feb 11, 2011 (J Bongfelt) - ' The Eagle Lake area is underlain by an east-northeast trending, vertical to steeply dipping, north facing, locally isoclinally folded suite of Archean mafic to felsic metavolcanic rocks which are located in the western portion of the Wabigoon subprovince. The Wabigoon fault system separates these rocks from metasedimentary gneiss and granitoid rocks of the English river subprovince to the north.' (Kenora AF 52F/11NE, EE-15, International Platinum Corp., DD Report, p.5-6)

Lithology Comments

Feb 11, 2011 (J Bongfelt) - 'Area C lies to the east of and adjacent to area of the fall of 1989 drill program. A major felsic to mafic lithological contact traverses this area along which significant Zn values have been obtained. In addition, the fall of 1989 UTEM survey indicates the conductor along which the zinc mineralization occurs improves in this direction.' (Kenora AF 52F/11NE, EE-15, International Platinum Corp., DD Report, p.24)
