Geology

Province: Superior

Geological Age: Precambrian

Geology Comments

Feb 15, 2011 (J Bongfelt) - Disseminated and streaky pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, and pyrite in greenstone occurs in an area midway between Lava and Easter Chicken lakes. A band of sediments and greenstones strikes northeast from Populus Lake. The band is up to ten miles wide at the north end of Populus Lake, where the Kenbridge mine is located. Further north, in the vicinity of Fisher Lake, it is not as wide. (Kenora Historical File 52F12SE00008, Boylen)

Mineralization Comments

Feb 15, 2011 (J Bongfelt) - Grab samples averaged 0.01% Cu (Kenora Historical File 52F12SE00009, Orchan)

Nov 24, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - A large narrow gossan zone extends from a point west of the SW end of Fisher Lake to the SW corner of Stoat Lake. (Davies and Watowich, 1956). Champion Bear collected samples in the area which returned assays of 6 ppb Au, 210 ppm Zn, and 105 ppm Co (AFRI 52F12SE0021). None of the samples collected by Phelps Dodge in 1997 returned assays with any significant values (52F12NE2001).
