Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: The claim group is traversed by several logging roads and skid trails of the Domtar logging operation, east of Red Paint Lake. Access to the logging roads is via the main Domtar Woodlands road at Franklin Lake.



Exploration History

1895 - 1900: Prospecting by unknown prospectors 1938-40: Trenching was undertaken on rusty shear zone rocks and 4 diamond drill holes were completed. 1946: 6 test pits and some outcrop stripping were completed over quartz-carbonate veins in a rusty micacous schist. 1948: 9 diamond drill holes completed with a total depth of 2417 feet. 1951-52 Area mapped my R.S. Wollverton, Ontario Department of Mines 1954: 1 diamond drill hole was completed to a depth of 500 feet. 1960: Trenching was done across the rusty shear zone. 1970: Magnetometer and electromagnetic surveys over 2 claims which delinated an anomaly beneath Bufo Lake. During this period Univex Mining Corporation Limited commissioned Oja Limited to conduct similar surveys on thier claims along the north shore of Lumby Lake. Several anomalies were detected and 7 diamond drill holes were completed to a depth of 1705 feet. 1976: Geophysical surveys and a detailed geochemical survey. 1979: Propsecting, trenching and sampling 1980-81: Geophysical, geochemical and geological mapping surveys, as well as prospecting, trenching, stripping and linecutting. 1982: Detailed geologic mapping and sampling.
