Mineralization Comments

Sep 30, 2019 (Therese Pettigrew) - A quartz vein ranging from 4 to 12 inches in width has been exposed in a trench over a length of 340 feet; it strikes N 70 E. The vein appears to follow a shear zone in greyish amygdaloidal lava and at one point intersects a 30-foot granitic dike. The quartz carries pyrite and specular hematite (Laird, 1937). Subsequent to Laird’s visit, additional work was done and gold values ranging from a trace to 0.90 oz/t Au over narrow widths were found (Mackasey, 1975). A quartz vein ranges from 2-12 inches wide. The quartz is grayish to white, vitreous crack-seal type. Chlorite and sericite alteration has formed in the fractures and slip planes with areas of hematite alteration located here and there along strike of the vein. The vein follows a narrow shear zone in grayish amygdaloidal lava with severe shearing and alteration near the quartz contact. Mineralization consists mainly of pyrite, fine to coarse usually in fractures and as individual seams up to a 1/4" wide. Chalcopyrite is found in lesser amounts but certain areas have abundant quantities and generally is not dispersed throughout the vein as the pyrite. Occasional specular hematite patches also exist within the quartz. This mineralization can be found within the immediate volcanic host along with quartz contacts. The amygdaloidal flow hosting the quartz vein ranges from 50 to 100 feet wide with volcanic brecciated horizons found, granitic dykes and porphyries adjacent to the amygdaloidal flow. Samples collected in 2003 returned results up to 93.656 and 147.318 g/t Au (Assessment report 52H09NE2005). Samples collected in 2008 returned values up to 2.706 g/t Au (Assessment report 20000003527).
