Lithology Comments

Dec 04, 2018 (Therese Pettigrew) - Granodiorite is the most prominent host rock within the main showing area, with lesser mafic metavolcanics rocks also noted (Cundari et al., 2017).

Mineralization Comments

Dec 04, 2018 (Therese Pettigrew) - A stripping program was carried out by H. Goodman and M. Goodman on the Main showing, which exposed a number of newly discovered mineralized zones. A total of 10 grab samples and 7 channel samples were collected to test the extent of mineralization in the vicinity of the Main showing area. Samples returned considerable gold values of 29.01, 26.65 and 183.36 g/t Au from a quartz-carbonate vein within an east-northeast-trending shear zone. Samples taken from sheared and altered wall rock proximal to the quartz-carbonate veins returned values of 9.97 g/t Au and 30.34 g/t Au. Shear zones in the main showing range from 1 to 6 m in width. Three grab samples taken from the eastern trench in the area of the original Conductor A zone discovered in 1994 returned elevated gold values of 0.19, 0.28 and 0.38 g/t Au (Cundari et al., 2017). Channel and grab sampling of the 2015 sampling covering the Goodman Vein and adjacent areas of the quartz-carbonate high grade "Goodman Vein" averaged 30 grams/ton Au, with assay value of up to 64.3 g/t Au and 183 g/t Au. The veins averaged 25 cm in width and 30 m in length. A few specks of visual gold were located at several locations along the vein. The adjacent highly altered granodiorite gave anomalous gold values where arsenopyrite and pyrite mineralization was present (Assessment file 20000014169). The Cu-Mo Zone is 250 m NNE of the Conductor A/Main Showing area and is located at UTM Zone 16 423150 m E 5503375 m N. Samples collected from the Cu-Mo Zone in 2010 returned assays of up to 8.271 ppm Ag, 2481 ppm Cu, and 282 ppm Mo. The Conductor A Zone had samples that assayed up to 1.307 gpt Au, 2.15% Cu, and 816 gpt Ag (Assessment file 20000005673).

Notes: The majority of exploration efforts by the current property owners have been focussed on the Main showing area. Preliminary work on the Montmorr and Hopkins areas suggest a similar style of gold mineralization, with encouraging results. Geological and structural mapping is recommended, at both the property scale and the trench scale, to accurately delineate the rock units and to ascertain a better understanding of the structural controls on, and timing of, mineralization. High-grade gold mineralization on the Goodman Sturgeon River property is associated with a quartz-carbonate vein system hosted within a sheared and altered granodiorite host rock and lesser metavolcanic rocks. Lower-grade gold mineralization is recognized in altered granodiorite, proximal to the high-grade, shear zone-hosted zones. The presence of lower-grade gold mineralization proximal to high-grade zones suggests that considerable widths of multi-gram gold grades could be established by channel sampling and diamond drilling. Brittle-ductile deformation on the property is evident by the presence of a sheared, polymictic breccia with 0.10 to 5 m angular fragments of both metavolcanic and granodiorite material. Shear zones and associated mineralization appear to be located along the contact of the granodiorite body with the surrounding metavolcanic rocks, suggesting rheological contrasts between the competent granodiorite and the surrounding metavolcanic unit may have aided in focussing deformation and subsequent gold mineralization. Focussing exploration efforts toward the contact between the granodiorite and the metavolcanic rocks, targeting shear zones and quartz-carbonate veins therein should yield continued success on the Goodman Sturgeon River property and elsewhere in Dorothea Township (Cundari et al., 2017).
