Point Location Description: Diamond drill holes
Location Method: Conversion from MDI
Access Description: Suitably equiped light aircraft can land on Ouilette Lake in summer and winter. An old trail north from the northern tip of Ouilette Lake follows a creek to the shaft site on the east side of Mine Lake. As of the summer of 1993 a bulldozer trail running south of the Beckington Lake forestry road allowed walking access to Thomas and Mine Lakes.
Moore (1911) commented on the large number of prospects in the vicinity of Ouilette Lake. He stated that many of the smaller pits were no importance. He commented on the work done by the Ouilette Lake Mining Co. which had worked on nine claims between Ouilette and Mine Lakes. Two older locations, SV 421 and 422, were included in the claim group.1934-37: Supreme Gold Mines carried out an exploration program on the Ouillette Lake property among other sites in the area.A program of stripping, trenching and shaft sinking was carried out. 1946-47: Ouillette Gold Mines reported on work carried out on the Richelieu and Mine Lake properties. A drill hole on the Mine Lake property is reported to run $10.50 over 5 feet in gold (approx. 0.30 ounces gold per ton at $35.00 per ounce). No further work was done on the property and Ouilette Gold Mines was desolved in 1958.1960:A drill program was carried out to test for downward extensions of gold bearing veins. 1970:Selco Exploration Company conducted magnetometer and conductivity surveys. Five holes designated 242 D-1 to D-5, totalling 772.5 feet, were drilled in the fall of 1970. 1982: Mid-North Engineering Services and Candore Explorations Ltd. commissioned an exploration program on the Ouilette Gold prospect during the summer and fall of 1982. The known showings on the property were located and sampled. A grid was cut over the property and magnetic, radiometric and VLF surveys were carried out. A program of rock sampling, mapping and a horizontal loop electromagnetic (HLEM) survey was recommended. 1987: Two new grids were cut on the property, the Thomas Lake grid and the Mine Lake grid. Humus geochemical surveys were done on both grids. 5 diamond drill holes were done based on geochemical and geophysical anomalies. No assays were given in the drill logs.

Dec 07, 2005 (R Tuomi) - A number of pits, trenches and 2 shafts have been excavated on the east side of Mine Lake. The area is underlain by mafic metabasalt, gabbro and quartz diorite. There has been considerable confusion concerning the geology and site conditions at the Mine Lake area. This has come about due to work reportedly done on the Mine Lake area which was actually a description of work done and conditions prevailing at the Richelieu Mine on FM 206 , 2.8 miles to the south of Mine Lake. Companies that optioned or otherwise acquired the property may have accidentally reported work done and results obtained on the Richelieu as having been obtained on the Mine Lake property. In addition, quartz veins to the west side of Mine Lake were sometimes confused with quartz veins to the east of Mine Lake due to the same names used for two different veins systems. Because of the uncertainity of some of the reports, the best description of the field geology is that given above by Moore (1911).
