Access Description: The easiest way to reach the area is to walk east 1 km from North Bay of Sturgeon Lake to Couture Lake. Alternatively, a boat can be portaged from North Bay of Sturgeon Lake over the St. Anthony site to Couture Lake. The AL 662 shaft area is approximately 3.5 km north on the west shore of Couture Lake.
1935: sampling. 1941: sampling.
Dec 07, 2005 (R Tuomi) - An early discription of the area is by E. S. Moore in 1910,(Moore, 1911). On the west side of the lake, on claim A.L. 662, there is an old shaft at least 30 feet deep, containing a good deal of water. The vein is about 2 feet wide and dips 30 degree west. It fills a fissure between a footwall of schist and a hanging wall of altered graywacke. The vein is mineralized with chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite, pyrite and a little pyrrhotite. A little free gold was found in some specimens of quartz believed to have come from the shaft.
