Exploration History

There is no mention of work on this site (AL 501) in Moore (1911) or later published sources. 1970: Selco Exploration Co. Ltd. conducted an EM survey and drilled 4 DDH totalling 467.9 m. 1983: Steep Rock Resources Inc. conducted magnetic and EM surveys. 1984: Hudson Bay Exploration and Development Company Ltd. entered into an option/joint venture agreement covering the Steep Rock Resources Inc. gold properties in the Sturgeon Lake area. The Horne property was included in this agreement and Hudson Bay conducted a stripping and sampling program on the property. 1989: 007 Precious Metals Ltd. optioned the property from the claim holders. Two holes were diamond drilled on claim Pa. 611965 by Golden Mile Resources Ltd. Diamond drill hole 90-2 had a good gold intersection. 1995: S. Johnson and B. Read carried out trenching and blasting. 2013: AuXin Resources Ltd. carried out prospecting, stripping, mapping, and sampling, and drilled 7 DDH totalling 591 m.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (R Tuomi) - The following is taken from Sioux Lookout Assessment File 52J02SW-0051. The Horne property consists of 24 claims, 10 of which optioned or purchased from prospectors and 14 of which were staked by Steep Rock. The claims are located about 3 km east of the King Bay group on a long peninsula extending southward from the north end of Sturgeon Lake, and is accessible only by boat or float plane. This description is continued on page 7 of the report: Horne Property A gold showing is exposed in several shallow trenches and on stripped outcrops along a strike length of about 50 metres. White quartz stringers are erratically distributed in a drag folded shear zone in mafic volcanics. Spotty gold values are associated with the quartz lenses and stringers. A sketch map of this showing accompanies this report.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (R Tuomi) - Mineralization occurs in white quartz vein. The host rock is mafic metavolcanics.

Mineralization Comments

Apr 15, 2020 (R Tuomi) - Two holes were diamond drilled by Golden Mile Resources on claim Pa. 611965 in the fall of 1984. Hole J-90-2 was drilled south at -45 degrees to a length of 256.3 feet. The drill intersected a quartz vein at 198 feet that ran 0.75 ounce gold per ton over 5.5 feet.

Apr 15, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - In October 2013, seven diamond drill holes totaling 591 metres were completed. The most encouraging gold intersections were 20.14 g/t gold over 3.0m of core length, including 104.642 g/t Au over 0.55 and including 9.421 g/t over 0.3m in diamond drill hole AJ13-03 at 20m below surface, and 14.885 g/t gold over 1.4m including 51.29 g/t Au over 0.4m in DDH AJ13-02 at approximately 10m below surface. Both holes are situated in the central part of the North Johnson stripped area. This drill program doubled the known strike length of the North Johnson gold-bearing quartz-carbonate altered shear zone structure from 110 m to 200 m in length and confirmed the existence of several parallel structures. These structures trends at an azimuth of 070 degrees, and dip 70 degrees to the south, averaging approximately 4 m wide. High grade assays appear restricted to narrow quartz-sulphide veins containing 2-5% pyrite, chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite and fine visible gold within these shear zones (Assessment report 20000013977). DDH 242-1 returned up to 0.13% Cu and 0.72% Zn over 3.5 feet (1.07 m) from a brecciated tuff containing 30% pyrrhotite and minor chalcopyrite (Assessment report 52J02SE8975).
