Access Description: Light aircraft can land on King Bay near the drill site in summer and winter. Boats and snowmobiles can gain access to King Bay from access points off Hwy. 599 between Cobb Bay and Horizontal Bay of Sturgeon Lake.

Exploration and Mining History

1981-84: A program of geophysical surveying, mapping and follow up drilling on geophysical conductors was done on the western portion of King Bay by Steep Rock Resources Inc. and option partners. Several holes were drilled from the ice into the contact between a quartz porphyry stock under the lake and a mafic metavolcanic-sedimentary unit to the north. Narrow intersections with significant gold assays were discovered in diamond drill holes KB-19-83 and KB-21-83. 1986: Falconbridge Ltd. drilled 27 DDH totalling 647.4 m. 2004: KBG Minerals Corp. conducted ground magnetometer surveys. 2006-7: Conquest Resources Ltd. drilled 16 DDH totalling 1351.6 m.

Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Wabigoon

Belt: Sturgeon Lake

Geological Age: Archean

Geology Comments

01/25/2000 (R Tuomi) - Most of the drill holes were drilled on ice during the winter. The drill holes intersected an east trending contact between sheared to massive, fine grained metabasalt and a quartz - feldspar porphyry to the south. The contact is brecciated, carbonate replaced and interlayered with felsic tuff. Minor mafic dikes cut the core.

Mineralization Comments

02/04/2000 (R Tuomi) - DDH KB-19-83 assayed 0.7 ounce gold per ton over 3 cm. DDH KB-21-83 assayed 0.075 ounce gold per ton over 0.6 m. A number of drill holes in the area have given low to significant gold values in drill core.

03/30/2020 (T Pettigrew) - Mineralization in the King Bay area is characterized by fine grained Au associated with pyrrhotite +/- pyrite in blue-black quartz found in boulders grouped in three trains oriented approximately N40E. The 2004 survey defined six ground magnetic anomalies which are believed to reflect Au mineralization in breccia pipes developed within a quartz-feldspar porphyry unit. DDH KB-07-W5-02 assayed up to 23.12 g/t Au over 0.28 m from blue quartz veins in quartz-feldspar porphyry. DDH KB-07-W5-01 assayed up to 11.14 g/t Au over 0.20 m, also from blue quartz veins in a quartz-feldspar porphyry. DDH KB-06-W4-01 assayed 43.0 g/t Au over 0.11 m and 12.0 g/t Au over 0.21 m. DDH KB-07-W4-03 assayed up to 74.55 g/t Au over 0.25 m at 103.2-103.45 m depth (Assessment report 20000007873).

Alteration Comments

02/04/2000 (R Tuomi) - Brecciation occurs as well.
