Mineralization Comments

Aug 27, 2007 (Mark Puumala) - Bruce (1922) reports the presence of beryl in a pegmatite intrusion found at this location. Clifford (1969) indicates that this is one of many pegmatites that occur toward the western end of Lake St. Joseph. Clifford (1969) describes the pegmatites as small, irregular-shaped (i.e., folded) bodies that contain abundant coarse-grained potassium feldspar (up to 30 cm) and muscovite, with lesser amounts of plagioclase and tourmaline. These intrusions are hosted within metasedimentary rocks of the English River Domain immediately south of the Lake St. Joseph Fault Zone.
