Exploration History

The property has seen intermittent work since the 1950s, when it was explored for base metals. 1969 - 1970s: Discovery of South Bay Mine by Selco Mining Corp. in 1968 led to systematic exploration of the Confederation Lake belt by Selco between 1970 and the early 1980s, resulting in a number of small, shallow high-grade Cu-Zn prospects that were deemed by Selco to be uneconomic. Work included: GL, GM, GEM, and DDH(20). 1984: Cominco completed GL, GM, and UTEM. Work confirmed previous targets. 1987: Noranda completed an AEM survey and started a regional lithogeochemistry sampling and geological mapping program. 1990-1994: Minnova completed Lc, GL, Lithogeochemical Samp, and GM, surface PEM and DDH(2)=854 m. Both holes intersected stringer sulphides in an altered QFP rhyolite unit. 1994-1998: Noranda completed Lc, GM, HLEM, surface PEM, DDH(28)=14867.5 m and borehole PEM. DD intersected significant stringer to massive sulphides on the Arrow Zone over 1.4 km strike length, between -320 to -800 m. 2002-2007: Property was obtained by Tribute in February 2002 from Noranda. Tribute completed Lc, GEM (Titan 24), and BHTEM, in addition to drilling 72 DDH totalling 33,061 m. NI 43-101 Resource Estimate released by Tribute August 14, 2007. 2008: Tribute Minerals Inc, drilled 8 DDH totalling 2441 m. 2010: Tribute changes its name to AurCrest Gold Inc. 2016: Pistol Bay Mining Inc. acquired the property from AurCrest and carried out geophysical surveys and geological mapping.

Mineralization Comments

Mar 20, 2015 (A McKee) - GL-2007-61 best intersection was 2.45% over 4 m, GL-2007-63: 0.9 m of 2.73 % Zn, 0.10% Cu, 4.1 g/t Ag, GL-2008-70: 1.5 m of 1.72% Zn, 0.22% Cu and 16.4 g/t Ag, GL-2008-72: Best intersections were 1.5 m of 3.6% Zn, .016% Cu, .095 g/t Au, 17.2 g/t Ag and 24 g/t In, and 1.4 m of 4.5% Zn, 0.34% Cu, 0.2 g/t Au, 22.7 g/t Ag and 25 g/t.

Apr 24, 2018 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Arrow Zone is a base metal discovery that occurs between 250 and 550 m vertical depths at the contact of a quartz feldspar porphyry sub-volcanic intrusive and a cherty ash tuff. Mineralization is associated with a laterally extensive Deep EM conductivity trend with coincident locally elevated magnetics, and has been traced for approx. 1.4 km of strike length and plunges moderately to the west. The Arrow Zone is a metamorphosed volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit located towards the NW end of the Confederation Greenstone Belt. The deposit is hosted within a horizon of magnetite-rich interflow chloritite sediments enveloped by chlorite-anthophyllite-garnet-andalusite-staurolite altered felsic tuff volcanic rocks. The host rocks immediately overlie a sericitized quartz feldspar porphyry unit that is interpreted to represent the deposit’s volcanic dome footwall. Intermediate and felsic ash and fragmental tuffs make up the hanging wall. An amphibolitic unit interpreted as a metamorphosed mafic volcanic flow is also situated in the hanging wall at variable uphole distances above the mineralized layer. The base metal mineralization consists of medium- to coarse-grained, massive to semi-massive to stringer sphalerite and lesser chalcopyrite associated with significantly anomalous gold, silver, indium and gallium values. Pyrrhotite, pyrite and magnetite contents are variable but major components of the mineralization (Carter, 2007). Some interesting assays include the following: GL-97-2C: 19.10% Zn, 2.15% Cu, 1.58 gpt Au, 35.10 gpt Ag over 6.30 m; GL-97-7: 11.70% Zn, 0.64% Cu, 0.33 gpt Au, 11.20 gpt Ag over 6.20 m; GL-04-04: 17.40% Zn, 0.68% Cu, 0.32 gpt Au, 28.0 gpt Ag, 31.2 gpt In over 4.25 m; GL-06-18: 18.50% Zn, 0.66% Cu, 0.46% gpt Au, 25.70 gpt Ag, 81.2 gpt In over 5.4 m; GL-06-26: 13.40% Zn, 0.67% Cu, 13.60 gpt Au, 55.0 gpt Ag, 29.60 gpt In over 2.50 m; GL-06-39: 20.30% Zn, 1.23% Cu, 0.47 gpt Au, 28.10 gpt Ag, 33.10 gpt In over 4.0 m (Carter, 2007). The core of the Arrow Zone is a massive sulphide zone from 3-12 m thick. Towards the edges of the zone, the massive sulphides diminish to, and interfinger with, a cherty argillite with magnetite and often only trace amounts of sphalerite or chalcopyrite are present, Maximum individual assays for the four metals are copper 7.60%, zinc 46.9%, silver 285 gpt, and gold 69.8 gpt (Carter and Bowdidge, 2017).
