Location Method: Field Visit with GPS

Access Description: Quarry is located 45 km north of Kenora, 15 km east of Jones. Can be accessed via Jones Road and the Lount Lake Road.



Exploration History

Nelson Granite started production in 2000. 71 cubic metres of stone was removed in 2000. Yearly production is documented in the Kenora District ROAs.

Oct 13, 2022 (C Ravnaas) - The stone is a medium- to coarse-grained, porphyritic granite composed of potassic feldspar phenocrysts in a matrix of plagioclase, potassic feldspar, quartz and biotite.

2012 1098 Production resumed at the Shepody quarry in 2012. A total of 750 m3 (26 480 ft3) were produced in 2012 for dimension stone use, under the market name “Shepody” (C. Spence, Nelson Granite Ltd., personal communication, 2013).
