Mineralization Comments

Jul 12, 2017 (M Tuomi) - Grade: 7.84% Zn, 0.04 opt Au (1.37 g/t), trace Ag. A grab sample collected in 1948 from the No. 1 pit assayed 7.84% Zn and 0.04 opt Au.

Jul 12, 2017 (Therese Pettigrew) - The arsenopyrite-rich, sulphide-bearing brecciated zone, which is on the order of 100 m wide, strikes in an easterly direction across a peninsula in Umfreville Lake, and it is contained within amphibolites that are the westernmost remnants of what appears to be an attenuated major fold of the Separation Lake greenstone belt. The amphibolites are bounded on either side by granitic and gneissic rocks. The amphibolites are hornblende and biotite bearing, with minor amounts of garnet in places. Sulphides present - in addition to abundant arsenopyrite which can be on the order of 30% to 40% - are pyrite, pyrrhotite, sphalerite, and minor chalcopyrite and galena (Fenwick, 1992). Sample 2476-4 assayed 9620 ppm Zn, 460 ppm Cu, and 2.4 gpt Au (Blackburn and Young, 2000). Sampling from 1947 returned the following results: Pit 1: 0.08 opt Au (2.74 gpt Au), 0.38 opt Ag (13.03 gpt Ag); Pit 2: 0.05 opt Au (1.71 gpt Au); Pit 3: 0.12 opt Au (4.11 gpt Au); Pit 4: 0.08 opt Au (2.74 gpt); Pit 5: 0.10 opt Au (3.43 gpt Au); and Pit 7: 0.06 opt Au (2.06 gpt Au). A sample from Pit 5 returned an assay of 2.77% Zn (Thomson, 1948).
