Oct 30, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - The Golden Arm intrusive complex is located along the plane created by the Golden Arm - Hammel Lake Fault. The intrusive is generally massive but has same strongly sheared sections indicating it was emplaced during the middle to late stages of the local history. The complex is separated into several blocks by faulting (geophysically interpreted) and intrusive effects. On the west side of Golden Arm, the complex is crudely layered into serpentinized peridotite and an underlying magnetic gabbro. The part of the complex north of the Pipestone - St. Paul feature seems to have reversed layering, although exposure is extremely poor. The portion of the complex beneath Golden Arm is more loosely associated with non-magnetic gabbro. The peridotite is dark green to black in color, contains up to 15% magnetite, and is commonly fine to medium grained. Carbonate alteration is rarely strong and usually nil. Sulphide minerals are not present. Minor amounts of cross fibre asbestos (to 5mm) are recorded in a few outcrops. Some of the sheared outcrops are quite talcose. The gabbro sections are coarse grained with poikilitic mafic phenocrysts to 1 cm. The amount of magnetite in the gabbro is variable and some outcrops are non-magnetic. Plagioclase laths to 6 mm occupy in excess of 10% of the rock (Assessment report 52M01SE0009).
