Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - Geological Description: A shear zone striking N85 deg. W lies within intermediate pyroclastic rocks and felsic lava, roughly paralleling the contact of these rocks with mafic lava that lies a short distance south of the shear. This shear dips steeply to the north and hosts many quartz veins that strike N80deg.W to N70 deg.W, which therefore intersect the direction of shearing at a narrow angle. The quartz occurs in dark-coloured, fine-grained veins or veinlets that are slightly mineralized with disseminated sulphides. The quartz is narrow and discontinuous, being up to 34 cm in width, but it is a persistent gold carrier. The felsic lava is sercitized. This 'West Red Lake No. 1 vein' is quite similar in many respects to the Mount Jamie Limited 'North Vein East' (TD 2) and lies en echelon and to the south of its line of strike. DEPOSIT DESCRIPTION: This shear zone contains mineralized, auriferous quartz veins, and has been found to carry good gold values over a width of 91 cm and a length of 122.5 m, on surface. Shallow diamond drilling has intersected good gold values to a depth of 38 m. GEOCHEMICAL DATA: Possible potassium enrichment (sericite).

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - MDI1 DATA: GRADE 1941 DDH: 1.207 OPT AU/1.4 FT FOR 360 FT; 0.453 OPT/1.3 FT, GRADE 1941: 0.55 OPT AU/91 CM FOR 123 M. Assays from Hicks (1941): Sampling by H.G. Young gave 0.55 oz/ton (18.857 g/tonne)Au across 91 cm width and 122.5 m length. Sampling by Mackenzie Red Lake Gold Mines Limited gave 1.207 oz/ton (41.382 g/tonne)Au across 42.6 cm for 109.7 m. The quartz occurs in dark-coloured, fine-grained veins or veinlets that are slightly mineralized with disseminated sulphides.
