Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - Mafic lava with lenses of felsic-pyroclastic rocks strikes roughly east-west and dips vertically. The rocks are altered to quartz, carbonate, chlorite, and fuchsite. Quartz-carbonate veins occur in these rocks. Trenches near the shore of Sadler Bay reportedly carry gold, pyrite, and chalcopyrite. A narrow quartz vein in felsic rocks 76 m north of the trenches was also found to carry gold.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - Quartz-carbonate veins in altered volcanic rocks carry some gold with minor pyrite, and chalcopyrite. A grab sample by the OGS in 1969 was 76 m north of the trenches, and ran 0.06 opt Au in a 5 cm quartz vein in felsic volcanic rocks.

Oct 14, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - A sample taken from a quartz-carbonate vein hosted by mafic volcanics and very strong fuchsite alteration and 2-3% pyrite in an old trench returned 0.584 g/t Au (Assessment report 20000009143). Samples 2256l and 2256 m returned 1.278 ppm and 0.834 ppm Au respectively (Assessment report 52M01SE0080). Sample BCA-16 returned 0.71 ppm Au from a quartz vein in andesite with 5% disseminated pyrite (Assessment report 52M01SE0161).

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The mafic lavas with lenses of felsic pyroclastic rocks are altered to quartz, carbonate, chlorite, and fuchsite. They contain quartz-carbonate veins.
