Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - This east-west striking mineralized zone of shearing occurs within mafic volcanics very close to the contact with sandstone and conglomerate that lie immediately to the south. The mafic volcanics are silicified and the shear contains numerous stringers and veinlets of quartz. The zone is well mineralized by pyrite and pyrrhotite with local patches of sphalerite, arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite. Riley (1978) reports native copper from this locality.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 07, 2014 (K R Kettles) - Visible gold and native copper discovered at this site. Assays were 2% Cu, up to $10/ton Au; grab samples collected from trenches in 1983-84 returned 0.10 oz/t Au over 75 cm and 0.94 oz/t Ag. Visible gold was reportedly plentiful in a 60 foot section.

Nov 13, 2020 (Therese Pettigrew) - DDH RW-01-161 returned 119 pp Ag, 2870 ppm Cu, 1620 ppm Zn over 0.64 m from a pillowed basalt with 10% sphalerite, 5% pyrrhotite, 1% chalcopyrite, and 1% arsenopyrite as stringers, and 26 ppm Ag, 8830 ppm Cu, 1620 ppm Zn over 0.42 m from a pillowed basalt with quartz-calcite stringers containing 10% chalcopyrite, 10% pyrrhotite, 3% pyrite, and 1% arsenopyrite (Assessment report 52M01SE2010).

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (K R Kettles) - The mafic volcanics are silicified.
