Exploration History

Stone from Pipestone Bay is reported to have ben extracted by the First Nations peoples for making pipes (Dowling 1912). No relevant assessment reports were found.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Storey) - Rock was mapped as serpentinite and serpentinized peridotite by Riley (1970). Talc content is variable, colour is dark grey green in general with some parts distinctly red. There is only a small amount of red stone and it is only reported in one area on the north side of Pipestone Point.
